Toners are not meant to sting! I believe the most you should feel is MAYBE a little tingling. I believe you may actually be allergic. Sometimes skin can be a bit picky with the products it works well with:)

No, if anything it should be refreshing and soft. I use the tea tree or eau roma one from lush... It lasts forever, super gentle (I have really sensitive skin) and really helped my skin. Plus they smell really good.

I don't think your allergic...most toners have a witch hazel base or an achohol base so that's going to sting if you have any open pores on your skin and if your exfoliating it should be opening up your pores. I also think that if the rest of the set dosen't bother your skin then I don't think your allergic. I would use it for a few weeks (looking for rashes or any other sign of irritation) and see how it does. Hope I helped :)

So am I not supposed to exfoliate before using toner?

Kathryn is completely right. I don't think you are allergic to the toner its just because you have open pores. The main ingredient of a toner is alcohol so obviously if it gets into open or.broken.skin, its going to sting a bit. Just be cautious when you use it. Exfoliating before you use it is okay as well. You arent soing anything wrong haha. The only thing I would say is to keep the toner away from your eye area. The eye are is really delicate so if you use a toner there the skin will dry out and you could get premature wrinkles and things like that.
