Hey there- so I usually use Neutrogena 12 HR "day wear" foundation or Loreal's True Match line. I have been getting frequent break outs on my forehead, where more of the foundation is concentrated, and I'm just wondering if that could be the cause. I'm going to Ulta tomorrow and I'm willing to spend more on a good product! Please recommend me what you think :)

Have you used these foundations before and have you had this problem? Have you changed anything in your skin care routine?

^^
Adding to those:
Do you wash your tools?

I have indeed. It wasn't until more recently that I've started getting break outs more often. Skin care routine, no. Not unless face wash counts.
Tools- I wash them not as often as I should

Makeup dosent cause breakouts specifically, breakouts occur when you get clogged pores, just make sure you wash your face and try an exfoliant

Would using just a face wash help, you think? I use a Neutrogena Rapid Clear regimen(toner, lotion) after I wash.

I would look into a skin care routine.

Try to go a week or so without your foundation, and see if your breakouts get better, if they do it was probably your makeup, if not then its probably something else :) thats how I usually tell.

It could be any number of things and honestly a derm would give you the best advice as to what's causing the acne - but it could be anything from stress to diet changes, hormonal changes, it could be the makeup but it sounds like it never gave you problems until recently so it could be as simple as a formula change and your skin may not be a fan of one new ingredient - but I agree with gabby try not using it for a while and see if it helps - if not then look into seeing your derm before it gets out of hand.

I agree with Gabby and Diana. Just perform a process of elimination. Since you are rotating between two different brands its kind of hard to say which one is the guilty party. What I've done in the past is stopped using face products period and wait for the skin to clear up and then I re-introduce the suspect. If I start seeing some issues arise then I've isolated the guilty one and I know then to extract it completely from my stash. Use the term as the last possible resort as they are pricey if you don't have insurance and they would have you do the same thing that I suggested before they write a 'script or even talk about skin allergy tests (patch test).
