I have hooded eyes and honestly it's all trial and error. Experiment with color placement and see what works for your eyes (:

If you google "makeup for hooded eyes" and look at the images, there are a lot of good examples you can mimic.

When doing color with eye shadows I usually do a lighter color on the inside to about the middle of the eyelid then do a darker shade of the same color on the outside corner and blend it in the middle.

You can also try that with liquid pencil liners on the eyelid. I do a dark brown on the inside to the middle, and then switch to a bright turquoise. It's a cool pop of color for if you don't want to do eyeshadow. I use milani Liquid Eye in 05 Brown and Milani Liquif' Eye in 04 Aqua, if you're interested. (: hope I helped some.

What you are doing is basically correct. I can't quite tell from the picture, but it looks like you have too much crease shadow on the inner corner. I usually start drawing my crease from the outer corner and across, using a very light hand. I don't go all the way to my nose with it. You can if you like, but it might be good to use a more subtle color like a light taupe for that, so that it looks like the hollow that would be created by a crease and less like eye shadow.
I would definitely check youtube for hooded eye tutorials. Wayne Goss and Sugar puff and Fluff have good ones. The latter explains how to put false eyelashes on hooded eyes which is a bit tricky and also has very good instruction for eyeliner issues as well.
You do have to be careful with browbone highlights because not only can it make the hood look more prominent, most people with naturally hooded eyes already have very prominent brow bones and don't need to highlight it. I have hooded eyes from sagging eye lids which is a bit different. I actually have very little space to work with on my brow bone. You have nice firm eyelids and a big spacious brow, so hooray!
I agree with Melanie, light colors on the inner corner, dark on the outside and blend in the middle. I like a highlight on the middle of my eyeball so I lay down a light base shade over the whole lid first (sounds like you are doing this already) then put something nice and shimmery and warm in the inner corner, and something cool and more dramatic in the outer corner and blend the two together leaving the middle somewhat blank so it looks lighter. If that makes sense.
