Hairy Stomach :(

I have an unusually hairy stomach. I have dark, thick, curly hair, but don't have a lot of hair on my arms or legs, at least nothing beyond "normal." I've even asked my doctor to test my testosterone levels and whatever else just to make sure nothing is out of sync. Tests came back normal.

SO, my question is, what can I do? I'm really pale, so the dark hair on my stomach sticks out. Only my boyfriend and I see my stomach, and it doesn't bother him any, but I'm really self conscious about it. I've let it grow out and then got it waxed, but it leaves my stomach really red, where the hair was pulled from. I try shaving, but that only irritates it as well, and leaves the root of the hair in place, so then instead of being hairy I'm "spotted" with black all over. It's just as bad as leaving the hair grow. The only option left is to pluck, which helps in terms of getting rid of the hair, but it takes a lot of time to do and is painful.

I wouldn't mind the hair so much if it weren't so dark and coarse. Anyone have any products or home remedies that'll help remove the hair, slow its growth, reduce its color, etc.? Thank you!! :)

Bleaching :) cheap and long lasting option (1 month or more). Go to your local beauty supply store and let them help you choose what kind of peroxide. If not, Sally Hansen's got one bleaching kit that is ok. Don't forget to patch test first because it can be very irritating (although its normal that tingles a lot).

You could try Veet or Nair.

That's the one thing I haven't tried, so I guess I'll give it a shot. Thank you!

I've never tried Veet or Nair on my stomach, but have on my legs and didn't have very good results. Though, it has been a few years so I suppose I could try it again. Thank you :)

I have polycistic ovaries, so I get a lot of hair, everywhere but I've found since I started epilating, my hair growth has reduced. It does really hurt if you aren't used to it, but it works well. If not, then waxing or bleaching are probably the two best options. I used to shave mine but found I had to do it frequently, and it felt awful and took up a lot of time! As I've got older though, I've become more comfortable with it, as it's not something I can change and those that really love you won't care. Maybe as you get older, you'll not care as much either. X.

I just got an at home laser hair removal machine. It's pricey (about $300) but it's supposed to work amazing and it has long term effects so your hair won't grow back aa thick or as frequently.

@Shauna what machine is it? is it Tria?
I'm hairy too and for my stomach I tend to just pluck the hairs with a tweezer

@Divanshi thanks for your response! what epilator do you use?? :)

@Shauna How long have you been using it? Does it hurt? How does it work? Lol sorry for all the questions! :)

I haven't been using it long at all so I haven't seen results yet. You only use it once every 2 weeks and it takes probably 4-6 months to see results. It doesn't hurt. It kind of tingles. Higher pulses can burn a little but it's not bad. It's kind of hard to explain how it works, I recommend googling Silk'n Bellalite laser hair removal and it will be able to tell you more in depth.

I use an epilator and over time it has made my hair grow back slower and there's not as much of it as there was originally. It is painful the first couple of times but you get used to it and then it's not as bad. I did a lot of research before buying mine as I wanted a quality one that would work well and last for a long time. I ended up choosing the Emjoi Emagine. It has 72 tweezer heads so it makes the process faster, 2 different speeds and is rechargeable but can also be used while plugged in just in case you forgot to charge it. Looks like this:

I think I have a braun one. I absolutely love it! It will hurt at first, but it's totally worth it and the pain will reduce over time x
