I have just stared using the dr bronners Magic soap, you can get a huge 500ml bottle from target for around $10, it is a multi purpose soap but I head it was great for brush and it defiantly is

If you can't go out and get any baby shampoo, mix whatever dish soap you have and a little bit of olive oil. Works wonders.

Any kind of gentle, deep cleaning shampoo will work fine. Since the difference between dishsoap and shampoo is often fragrance and coloring, you could use one of the milder dishsoaps. I've been washing all my natural hair brushes with that I use for powdered products less. I remove any stainy pigments with parian and then wipe clean on a tissue. I'm still washing the brushes I use with cream/emmolient/liquids at least weekly, if not more often. Still just using Aveda shampoo with no problems.
