If they are purple use a yellow color corrector
if they are blue use a salmon/ peach color corrector then apply your skintone concealer

They either have a color that you would need to correct, or they're sunken in and there isn't much you can do about sunken dark circles, well at least not to my knowledge.

If you want to prevent them I would use a good moisturiser on them every day and in the morning you could apply a damp cold tea bag on your eyes for a minute it really gets down puffiness and hydrates your eyes!

Take care of yoir undereye area, use a eye cream. Elf has a cheap eye cream that really brightens the area :)
