I have a sleeve and I want to go into dental hygiene. Is that a big deal? I can always wear a long sleeve under my scrubs or wear a dental coat right?

I would assume as long as they're covered it would be okay. I know teachers who have tattoos and stuff, they just always wear long sleeves. However I'm not completely sure

I'd ask someone in dental hygiene to be honest as it can vary depending on where you work. I work in heathcare myself and have always been told that in areas such as dental or working in hospitals you can't wear anything below the elbow (no long sleeves, no rings aside from a wedding band, no watches, etc...) and any tattoos should be covered where possible if they could cause offence. It just depends on where you work as some areas are more conservative than others but I'm pretty sure the bare below the elbow rule would apply in the case of dental hygiene.

Meaning that you wouldn't be able to wear long sleeves. Visibility of tattoos is more dependent on where/ who you work for in regards to what is allowed and what isn't.

I also went to dental school and I have 2 half sleeves and I did have to wear undershirt every single day and my tattoos are both noticed. Even though they were half.

A long sleeve undershirt I should say.

I have tattoos on my wrist & work directly w/ patients in a Healthcare setting. My hospitals policy is no visible tattoos & piercings so I get around that w/ wearing watches, long sleeves &/or lab coats. It'll all depend on where ya work and how strictly they enforce (I've seen several hcw in our hospital w/ visible tattoos on their arms, hands, neck...)

I had a male nurse at a hospital once with full Sleeve and neck tattoos fully viable and for dental. I've seen several therapist, dentists and hygienist with long sleeves under their scrubs especially in the winter time.

I'm an RN and I have full sleeves and hand tattoos! It's never a problem - if anything it's the fact that I look really young that people have a problem with even though I'm 23 and have worked in healthcare for 6 years. Haha

I also have finger tattoos which aren't too noticeable but I wear gloves when I'm with a patient so it shouldn't be bad.
