Supposedly 3-4 months. I've had mine for probably 6 months and my last one for 8. it's all about care. use the beauty blender cleanser or dawn soap tip clean them.

I've never had a funky smell on mine. mine started deteriorating so I threw it out.

The guy in sephora told me you have to toss it after 9 months. I wash mine daily and toss it in the microwave (for 10 seconds) to kill bacteria though.
