Diana, my hair is very dark naturally, almost black, and bleaching barely damages it when done right. Lighter hair is actually usually thinner than dark hair, so bleaching is harder on it. I only get my hair bleached by one person who knows what she's doing, so I don't have the issue of just going to a salon and hoping. But if you do a lot of research and talk to the person, and understand how your hair workd and how to treat it afterwards then there shouldn't be any damage that a small trim and some masks can't fix.

Bleaching is actually harder on darker hair because it strips the natural pigment making it far more porous than what it was originally. Lighter hair isn't always thinner than darker hair (giving my daughters best friend the side-eye as I type this out...she's blond and her individual strands are thicker than mine and I have dark hair). And my dark hair is fine in texture.

Definitely don't do a home bleach job...go into a qualified salon to have the procedure done. Years ago I tried to lighten my hair a couple of shades to a blondish/caramel shade...I came out looking like a Carrot Tops illegitimate sister!!LOL

Awesome growth Sree! I follow a similar program as you do and when I stretch my hair (its very curly) it hits just at the middle of my butt. Your hair is absolutely beautiful and if you keep at it I'm sure you will hit your next growth goal. :)

Thank you ladies:D!
I'm still scared of bleaching my hair so I guess I'm not going to do that any time soon. And Shelley is right about genetics, it plays an important role too.
@Shelley: I love your hair! It looks so healthy and thick :)
