Might have been me! I have tried it and my face went like a tomato, I'm pretty sure I posted a thread about it :) it burned my skin so badly, I was using a cocktail of aloe vera and cooling cream on it for days!

I'm so glad your more cautious now, we were trying to figure out how you got that face mask idea from because we didn't want others to try it as well because it is scary.

I'll give an explanation on why some of the ingredients aren't safe for skin.
Whether you use it or not - is your discretion. I personally wouldn't use either baking soda or cinnamon but it's still up to you.
Cinnamon- Only proven benefit of cinnamon for skin care is the fact that it's antibacterial.
Cinnamon is an irritant to the skin which should be avoided for effective skin care. Honey is both antibacterial and antiseptic (meaning bacteria cannot live in honey ). So use of Cinnamon in skin care has no benefit, especially in this mask which already has Honey in it.
Baking Soda- Skin has a PH balance of 4.5 - 5.5. Baking Soda has a PH balance of 9.
Use of baking soda can alter the skin's PH balance. Something too alkaline can disrupt the skins barrier and too acidic can create chemical burns.
---
Importance of your skins barrier:
With a disrupted or damaged skin barrier, your skin is prone to bacterial infections ( which can look like acne ), acne, dehydration, hyper pigmentation, sun damage and dryness. You can dish out all the $$$ you want on a good moisturizer or product and spend all the time in the world using a good DIY mask, however with a disrupted skin barrier you are essentially throwing out your money and time because the skins barrier is disrupted.
Think of it this way.. If you have a cold and are dehydrated you will have one heck of a time trying to get better until you become hydrated again.
Irritation:
Your skin does not need to be red, tingle, itch, or show any form of irritation in order to be irritated.
When your skin is irritated, the barrier is basically weakened which can actually result in more acne and oil production. Irritation actually triggers nerve endings that are in the pore, which amps up the production of androgen hormone. This increases oil production in the skin which in result can create more acne and enlarged pores.
When it comes to DIY's I am very careful because it has ruined my skin and given me a nice infection and a plethora of issues :) So I wouldn't disregard it especially since I was the type of gal who could not wash her face for two weeks if I wanted and seeing a blemish was a rare thing for me!
When it comes to DIYS;
PH
Free of Irritants ( including fragrance both natural and synthetic )
are what you should consider.

@Cocoa C. I know you love DIYS, but the particular incident Alma was talking about was a Cinnamon skin care rage that took place on Beautylish. There were actually several users on BL who tried out this mask and it led to not one but a couple of threads of some really red faces. At this point, I think it's fair to let people know the Cons of DIYs. It's still ultimately up to her whether she wants to keep using the mask or not, but just like everything you buy there is a warning label and unfortunately Pinterest doesn't have that label =\
