Les I never had luck with the chis lol. I bought one once and had to return it bcs the plates wouldnt close tightly on the strand and therefore didnt straighten the strand at all. I had to keep pressing tightly. then I never bought them again lol.

Hey girl :) I'm not sure what flat irons they have at ulta, but I definitely recommend investing on a titanium one,it is a little more expensive than a ceramic one but it is a lot better IMO. It heats up faster, doesn't tug on the hair ( which ceramic does on the side of the plates or when it starts to crack)
It doesn't break like ceramic & doesn't damage your hair as much as ceramic plated straighteners

Sandra, welcome. Just remember to buy 100% titanium and not just a coated one. A lot of cheap irons are just coated plates. And titanium is best for thick hair when use daily as it is the powerhouse of heat.
The fact ceramic plates are not created equal. There are real ones like mine and coated plates like most inexpensive irons. Ceramic doesn't damage hair. It's all about evenly distributing negative ions onto hair when heated. Now, it doesn't mean more negative ions are better for your hair. Cos the more heat means more risks to your hair. If using titanium (real plates not coated), use it 2-3x a week and not everyday. Why? Cos it's meant for thick to coarse hair unless if lowest setting is use but it's time consuming.
My Sultra is 100% ceramic and is good for everyday use. I have normal hair and using this iron for everyday is best for me. This retails for $210. Yes, expensive. Cos it has real ceramic plates. And is recommended and used from famous celebs like Kim K and even youtube sensations like Kandee J. So I would say do more research before buying. Goodluck

The chi is my favorite it doesn't dry your hair out and make it feel crunchy it's a little pricey usually like a 100 but ulta usually has them on sale it's really worth the investment I highly recommend it (:
