I clean my real techniques sponge with a little bit of dawn dish soap and warm water. Takes it all right out! (Wouldn't recommend this for brushes)

Sonia Kashuk makes a great brush and sponge cleaner, you can get it at target. You just wet the sponge, spray with cleanser, lather, and rinse. And the bottle IS HUGE so it'll last a long time.
