If you have dry skin that might the problem. Its best suited for normal to oily skin. If its not a skintype issue it could one of several issues...
*It not adhering well to your daytime skincare products
*Applying too much product over a large area of the face
*Using the wrong application tool for the (with this formula they suggest a foundation brush)

Maybe try the moisture surge line instead if you have dry skin - otherwise I use their acne solutions foundation and I just use a pea sized amount for my whole face and don't get any cakey effect but it has a matte finish to it not sure how the even better line finishes.

I work for Clinique and Shelley is right, it is best for normal to oily skin. If you are drier or dry combination I would try the superbalance as it will balance between dryness and oiliness. The even better also dries down pretty quick so maybe taking a damp beauty sponge over it after applying or applying it with one will help it blend a bit better. The moisture surge tinted moisturizers and CC cream are nice too though, especially for drier skins. The shade range is a little limited on both but both offer sheer coverage so that would probably be why.
