This Summer I have the opportunity to go to Washington DC for a week for a scholarship program. That week will be non stop walking miles each day. I have 2 pairs of Nikes (basketball looking pair and a old work out pair) so those are not cut out for DC. I need a new pair of Tennis Shoes for this trip. A really good pair that won't be painful or annoying walking around that much but if I can at the same time look good. Since I have awhile before the trip I can save up so it doesn't matter how much the shoes are and I can break them in before the trip. Thanks everyone!!

I have some really nice gray and pink FILA sneakers, and some nikes but I find that after awhile those are uncomfortable

Brooks Running all the way! I'm a competitive runner and I swear by this brand. One of my favorite models are the Pureflow 3. Depending on the model, they can be pricey. I actually got a pair at Nordstrom Rack a few months back that were nearly half off
Congratulations on you scholarship :)

Thank you all so much! Also I forgot to mention that my foot is a bit on the wider flat side so would those be ok for my foot type and walking that much?

Girl, I have the widest foot you'll ever come across haha. They're flexible shoes.

I walk at least an hour every night before bed and a friend of mine suggested New Balance running shoes. I have been buying them for 3 years now and will never buy another shoe for walking again. They are even better than the shoes they make for the purpose of walking and are so comfy it's unreal.

Oh and I buy them in the wide size:)

New Balance are great as well. I don't think the Brook's Pureflow comes in wide, but the website actually has a quiz that matches you to the right shoe.

I have been to DC last summer and girl it was humid and warm. So if I were you I would also bring hats/fedora aside from shoes. I had fun riding the decker bus so hats and moisturizers are a must. Lol. Anyways, aside from sneakers I also brought flats like Tieks. So comfy to wear and easy to pack. It's foldable and it's leather. It's a lil expensive though but it's worth it. Trust me I love wearing it. I brought my Stuart Weitzman but I wore my Tieks most of the time. Oh I wish you have the time to visit the Holocaust museum, Maddame Tussauds and Lincoln memorial aside from The White House facade. Love DC to bits. Lol. Have fun.

I really enjoy the Sketchers GoWalk sneakers. They have them in many styles so you can choose your own and they're super lightweight!

Mylene: I've actually been wanting to buy a pair of Tieks but have been putting it off because of the price so this might be the best time to buy them. But ill deffiently be making a new post on what to wear when we get closer to the actual trip. As for what were doing yes we are touring the White House but we are also touring; the Lincoln Memorial, FDR memorial, Holocaust museum, Korean War mem, Vietnam mem, WW2 mem, Jefferson mem, Air&Space Smithsonian, Ford's Theater, MLK mem, Capital Hill, National archives, Washington monument, Supreme court building, then one night we are going to Pound The Hill for dinner and abother night we are going to a Washington Nationals game. So we are going to be walking miles and miles each day and a lot of the memorials we are going to at night or super early in the morning Its going to be a super busy non stop week but I'm so excited! Ill for sure check out FILA, New Balance, and Brooks Running and be ordering a pair of Tieks!

Danskos - they may not be the best looking shoes but they are the most comfortable shoes on the planet. Used by many in professions that are on their feet all day.
