How Often Should I Wash My Makeup Brushes?

I wash my face brushes once a week if I can since I'm terrified of bacteria buildup causing acne breakouts. My eye brushes in wash once every other week though since I spot clean them well and they're much smaller.

I would wash your face brushes more often since if you don't it could break you out, but other than that I think every other week should be fine :)

Brushes that you use with liquid products should be deep cleaned more often than brushes used with powder products. Washing your brushes too often can wear them out quickly but it's all up to your personal preference. I wash my foundation brush every other week and my eye brushes once a month. That's just what works for me. I don't break out much so every other week works for me on my face brushes.

You have some very hardy skin Kayla Marie W. I could never follow that cleaning program. My skin would be a disaster. Not washing your brushes often can also shorten the life span of them as well. All the oily/dirt can break up the brush hair filaments contained within the ferrule. Also not maintaining clean brushes can affect the outcome of eye looks...I once went a month without cleaning my eye brushes out of laziness...and complained of tugging on the lid and muddy blending...poor brushes were loaded with oils from my skin. Weekly cleaning made a huge difference.

I rotate amongst my Beauty Blender and two foundation brushes but my BB is cleaned after every use because I don't like seeing it stained and its more opt to become imbedded with nastiness if I don't. All my other tools are cleaned once a week. I have one set that has over 10 years old that is still going strong despite being cleaned once a week and maybe a few having a daily spot cleanse.

I wash my foundation brush the most often and it usually just depends on the look & feel of the brush. I don't time it. Once it starts to not feel as soft or I can see makeup build up I clean it but I spot clean in between washes.
