Hey guys, so some of you might have seen my post about going purple. I went to a salon to get it done the first time because I was bright red. She bleached my hair all over to an orange, then used Pravana Vivids in Violet to color it purple. It turned out great, so to touch up my roots, naturally I ordered some Pravana on Amazon.

I spent an hour and a half applying it and letting it process only to wash it out and find that it didn't take. So annoyed and $30 later, I wanted to ask about some dyes I can get at Sally that will take to my roots (and the rest of my already purple hair) without bleach.

My natural hair/roots are a dirty blonde color, already pretty light so I was surprised that it didn't take but with Pravana you are supposed to lighten your hair and not use developer so it may have been my mistake.

I want to try some brands I can get at Sally first. I'm not comfortable bleaching my hair myself, so I would have to go get the purple done all over again at my salon which is a long and expensive process.

Anyone tried Manic Panic, Ion, BTZ Color Jamz, Rage Color etc.? Or even Artic Fox (I'm fine ordering online) with any luck?

It's really weird that it didn't take, roots are virgin, and virgin hair takes dye better than the rest of the hair. But manic panic is great. I've heard great things about Ion as well, the rest I've never heard of.

I constantly dye my hair different colors. I use manic panic and love it 💜. I do have to say that ion requires somewhat of a really light colored blonde. But for your case I would try manic panic but if you still aren't a sure the workers at Sally's will help you doll 😊

I have a question for you maybe you cab answer instead of making a whole new post... my hair is dyed black and its fading but still black, my aunt is going to bleach my hair which I'm expecting an orange color but I'm going a lighter purple (darker than lilsc) on top and teal on the bottom. your hair dresser only bleached your hair once? my question is do you think I coukd achieve what I want in one bleaching? or should I take the damage but go lighter and bleach my hair at least teo times? here is a picture of the colors I'm actually going. I kniw you have never used this brand but I'm looking at the color ion brand

The one time I dyed my hair purple ombré I used Creative Image Adore due in Purple rage. So long lasting and cheap! You can find it for $4 at a local beauty supply store (not Sally's)

Brianna, my stylist bleached my hair to a golden yellow-orange (I'll insert a picture). Keep in mind a lot of the orange tone was because my hair was dyed red before. The lighter you want the purple, the more bleaching you'll have to do. I know she mentioned that if I wanted lilac my hair would have to be almost white. We only did one lift on my hair because the purple I wanted was very dark. But I would definitely ask your stylist because I'm not a professional and I just get my info from trial and error.

I may pick some up and test a spot on my roots first to see if it takes. When I dyed my hair red I never bleached it once.

Splat stain from Wal-Mart works good but the bleach is harsh. b sure to wear gloves.
