I colored my hair a light brown, and last night I tried to color my hair back to my old light blonde. I mixed the color with 2 oz of 20 developer like I always do. (I use the same brand of dye every time.) and left it on for the recommended 45 minutes! It barely changed my hair color, at all. It's now just a hint of blonde.. But still brownish looking. I really want my old level 9 blonde hair. :( please help. This is the color of my hair after dying, and I'll post a photo of the light brown I had before in the comments.

I have to say, I absolutely love the brown. I really do. But I'd recommend bleaching it until it's the blonde you want.

Or get a lightening system kit. Any drugstore.

A light dye will not lighten darker dye, because it does not lift colour, it will just add colour. Get proper bleach from a beauty supply store which you can mix with your 20 developer to lift the brown off of your hair. It will have to lift the blonde dye AND the brown dye now so it may take two applications, and definitely invest in either an ashy hair dye for after of a purple shampoo because any brown when lifted goes orange, it's the natural cycle.

I would try a color remover first. this way it removes the dye with less damage so when you bleach it after, you won't need to have it in for very long.
