Proactive didn't work for me. I had moderate/severe acne with combo skin. it dried my skin out. I used the entire bottles religiously & got nothing. I highly recommend the following:
1. Yaz: yes, its birth control, but it did AMAZING things for my skin. I only get one or two pimples a month now. (usually around my peroid) Life saver.
2. Clean and clear acne advantage 3-in-1 exfoliating cleanser: it has benzoyl peroxide (which kills bacteria) and little scrubbing beads to clear out your pores and leave your skin feeling all tingly fresh. Gentle enough to use everyday. I like the Acne advantage kit as well, I just like this cleanser better because it removes all my flakey skin.
3. Clean & clear acne advantage moisturizer: this has salicylic acid which exfoliates your skin. I alternate with Garnier moisture rescue gel-cream for combo skin, which is a great moisturizer for the winter months, & it doesnt make my skin oily AT ALL. which is saying something.
4. Garnier skin renew over night treatment peel: exfoliates your skin overnight to reduce pimple size/swelling, but also after 6-8 weeks will remove your dark acne spots.
hope this works!

It all depends on your skin. Just because it worked for the people in the commercial, does not mean it will work for you. For example, I have REALLY sensitive skin, and it irritated my skin a lot. Go see a dermatologist about it

It depends on the person, I think. But it did not work for me! Very disappointing :(

basically it depends. I have just recently started using it and I feel it is working. I also know of some people who t has not worked for. You should buy obey kit other is $20 so it may work for you. I think it is hard to find results on certain item since it depends on the person. also to all those commenting about the benzoyl peroxide... a lot of over the counter products have that in them also so it therefore the argument was moot. good luck girl!! we all struggle with acne or something so just be yourself!!

My aunt used it and it worked like a miracle... It really just depends on your skin type as her dermatologist stated.... In fact, he was the one who recommended proactive for her... Just go see what your dermatologist says for the most accurate way to deal with your skin type...

I'm using it right now, and its helping but its taking forever for everything to go away. It sure worked on my sister though.

As Celeste mentioned (I like you Celeste...you make good comments), ProActive contains benzoyl peroxide. The thing is, it has antibacterial properties, but your acne may not actually be due to bacteria. There are multiple reasons why acne happens, and it's not always an overpopulation of p. acnes. That being said, there's no real scientific certainty on why and how benzoyl peroxide works. Yes, it is drying. It may work for you, but you can get it in a wide variety of drug-store products that are cheaper than proactive and you can control better for other variables like what kind of moisturizer you use.
What you really need to do is exfoliate deeply and regularly. You can do this with chemicals like glycolic acid (the dennis gross wipes use that as their main ingredient), or you can do it manually with scrubs, a clarisonic or a home microdermabrasion system. Heck, you can even use baking soda. You also need to figure out what skin type your really have (just because you have acne doesn't mean you have oily skin) and use a moisturizer that is formulated for your skin type.

Just buy the mask. It does what the 3 steps should do and its not as harsh.

It really dries out your skin, you'd be better off just washing your face like twice a day

I used ProActiv! i think its really good(: it really helped me.. but it is quite harsh on the skin.. its really rough! I stopped using it and I didnt get anymore or less pimples than i had... im now using Neutrogena! which is really good too! soo if your skin is really dry dont use proactiv. its more for oily skin!

If you get it I would use the face wash and lotion , skip the toner it's harsh on the skin. Proactive is pretty pricey though to keep up on. I liked it though, I started using clearasil acne wash for night and that working pretty well.

I have never used it but my best friend did and it dried her out and made he break out even more. I would look for a different line. Maybe Paula's choice?
