Hi - I would appreciate your views on a good Airbrush kit, or reviews on some of those around. I think Dinair is popular in the US; here in the UK we have Luminess and various others.

I started off with a Luminess system and used their line of makeup. The compressor isn't that strong, but it lasted a couple of years. The makeup is okay, but not waterproof. This year I bought a Temptu system and started using their line of makeup, hands down ten times better than Luminess! The makeup is amazing, waterproof, blends well with other products and long lasting!!

Thanks for that - it is helpful to know :)

I second Chrissy and Tanya I love my temptu airbrush. So much so I went out and bought a second one. Their makeup is lovely and the gun is really versatile. Meaning you can use any sort of base of makeup (silicon, water). I find it much better value.

Hi Emma - I have seen this one on the Temptu website - it's a shame they are shipped from the US as I am here in the UK. Is this the one you have?
Introducing TEMPTU AIRbrush Makeup System 2.0
New Air Compressor with more powerful air flow
Improved AIRbrush Gun with precision trigger control
Enhanced AIRpod™ technology for a more flawless application
I heard that the Temptu products last longer so may be better for using on a client. The only other concern I have with ordering a kit from so far away is if the products don't suit my skin as I have sensitive skin so it will be no good perhaps

I have heard the TEMPTU airbrush machine is the best out of them all, as it offers the user more options with brand foundations e.g. Silicon based, water based and it is more likely to hold up & not let you down on the job.
I trained on Dinair and I don't really like the machine & although I liked the foundation colour range and kit selections, its makeup finish was too 'dolly like' on the skin.
Hopefully I can grab the TEMPTU AIRBRUSH MACHINE for myself at this years London IMATs :)
Best wishes,
Fox

Totally agree on the Temptu. I love mine. It's like real life photoshop :) The foundation hold all day, even through workouts at the gym! I like to combine the foundation with regular makeup for blush, contouring, etc. and that works pretty well.

Thanks for all the responses as they have been so helpful. Chrissy you have said to get the pro system not the pods - I wondered about those. Did you try the pod one? Which one does Jacy and Bridget have?

I've never tried the pods personally. I've heard the system breaks easily. I'm in love with the pro system, the compressor is so powerful and I love the gun as well!

It's so difficult to decide! Thanks for the advice though - I think I may need to go to IMATs and see what's about there too!

I am based in the Uk and bought the Dinair from spray tan pro. They shipped it very quickly and the price is the best in the Uk also. I do like the system and make-up which is great on oily skin. I am using the temptu sb in another airbrush system off ebay which is okish but will be saving to buy the Temptu kit at the imats also. Dinair for me is a great starter kit. I think it is good if working towards being an airbrush pro to offer both sb and wb airbrush makeup.

The problem with the pods is as far as I know you cannot mix colours as they are already in pod form and the gun can only be used with pods.
Sorry for the late reply Sarah, I'm in Australia but we have a shop called "hub makeup" and I got a good beginner kit from them, with a gun, compressor, makeup and cleaning equipment.

Don't bother with temptu pods, they clog ridiculously among other already mentioned problems I am not gonna bother repeating. I use an Iwata system with temptu sb products and am very much liking the results! the compressor and gun were sold seperately, are extremely easy to work with and care for and the temptu makeup lasts nicely, mixes and applies well, and overall gets my two thumbs up. Dinair system was ok and their makeup was ok, but I prefer what I am working with now :)

I have been using the Dinair system for two years now.... I like the makeup and the paramedical makeup.... I am now starting to have problems with it...it's clogging... Pros... The makeup looked beautiful in hd and photos.... I am now going to try temptu pro system!!!

Hi - thanks for all the replies - good to hear all the feedback. Interested to hear that you got the Dinair one in the UK Emma M, I am not a pro (yet) and thought of getting a starter kit either Dinair or Luminess to practice and then perhaps Temptu later. But I had so much good feedback on Temptu I am undecided on whether I should spend the extra if there is a chance it will last longer? I was also interested to hear that the Dinair is good for oily skin - mine is combination/sensitive but I have to be very wary with some make up whichi is too heavy, as it clogs my pores and causes breakouts. Thought about going to IMATs at London but am not sure yet as it's the money - do you get any savings on equipment? Alisa and Emma mentioned the pods and I thought that as well - if you can't mix the colour etc it seems to limit what you can do with it. It was interesting to hear Julie's feedback about the make up though for Dinair. I really want natural looking make up but for sensitive skin but also which lasts for a long time, like the equipment as well.

@Sarah S. At IMATS London you will get discount. That's what I am waiting for myself.
Although I am not sure how much of a discount. Some fellow muas have told me its anything between 10-40% on all the different brands which is amazing! I can't wait! :) x

I am still deciding whether I will go to IMATs in London - I am not yet a 'professional' so don't have a card etc. It does sound tempting tho..... :-)

Sarah, I will be attending IMATS in NYC in April, I'll keep a look out and see what the Temptu systems are going for!
