I was on the phone with my mom and she asked me why I was growing out my hair. When I told her I was growing it out so that I could put it in a bun on top of my head without using extensions, she laughed. And couldn't stop laughing. Now that I think about it, my reasoning is a little crazy. What is a goal that you've done for "beauty" that may seem crazy to other people?

I think the oddest thing I have tried was using rattlesnake oil soap on my skin just to help clear up some spots. I wanted to grow my curls as long as possible just so I can flip it all over to one side and wear top buns too.
Not to mention the plenty of times I've gone out into the garden and gotten some of the fruits, mashed it up and slapped it on my face and walked around like a human fruit smoothie.

Haha oh my gosh I used to look around the garden for aloe and natural fruits for my skin.. once I bought Coconut oil from a supermarket and put THAT in my hair haha and I'm sure almost every girl has cut their hair, or is going to in the future (I remember cutting my hair so when I had my hair in a pony tail I had little parts of hair on the side.. except I cut them straight so it looks ridiculous!)

LOL Lydia, we can get too creative with scissor abilities... when I was about 3 I made 2 pigtails and cut one off cause it was annoying.
Then went and played 'barber' with my dad... but he didn't notice I was using real scissors.. then went around the house cutting everything I thought was annoying (curtains, table dressings, etc) My mother thought I was playing around since I always did that with fake scissors and paid me no attention. I sure made my disasters as a child

LOL Kitty that is funny!
These are such good stories, I'm trying hard to think of one too, this is such a great topic!
And yes, I think everyone has gotten a bit scissor-happy sometimes... I once had the genius idea of snipping off just the top hairs that were sticking out on my crown. (I had mild trichotillomania.) I was 15. That was the worst ID picture ever.
Oh, I think I have one... I fake-tanned myself with black tea once!

I used to chop my own bangs with meat scissors..lol My friend/stylist made me stop. Bang trims are free anyway. So bad!

Shortly before my 40th birthday I cut myself some bangs. I have curly hair so I had to tweak the outcome with a little gel and leave in conditioner. It looked alright as long as I styled it right. The disaster cleared itself up within 6 weeks (major hair growth).

When I was in grade school we were pretty poor and my mom had bought me one of those vinyl/polyester style winter coats. The rest of the kids were wearing wool coats so I would hold my coat in my hand as I walked to the bus stop (taking it off after leaving the house). My mom would yell at me to wear my coat- she'd always run the line, "you're going to die for fashion." As I got older, of course, I realize how dumb and petty I was back then. Plus the coat wasn't so bad when I see pictures of me & my sis in them! Lol

In middle school I wanted to dye my hair blonde so bad but my mom wouldn't allow it because I was to young. So my girlfriend went and got me a bottle of sun in the day we went to the water park, well 8 hrs later when my mom picked us up my hair was carrot orange I used the whole bottle on my deep brunette hair, she freaked out but the next day I had a salon appointment (:
