Need to dye/tone my tape in extensions to match my hair. They're real hair, so it's safe. But I know they're treated and could respond to dyes differently. I'm just looking to tone them down and remove brassyness. Should I use a semi or a permanent dye, and any other tips to minimize damage?

I would use a semi permanent dye. You'd be able too control how much it tones. It's easier to tone more than to tone it less. Plus you can mix a custom shade that is perfect for toning your shadow of brassy rather than a general toner color.
I'd recommend manic panic ultra violet. Mixed with a bunch of conditioner. It's a blue-purple so it'll tone better than just purple.
