Hair Color... Need Opinions.

Hi Everyone,
I need some opinions, I'll take them all into consideration. :). For the better part of 18 years (yikes) I've been dyeing my hair one shade of red or another, my natural hair color is a very very dark brown, but I'm about 40% grey under the dye. I've been other colors, but rarely, went platinum blond a few summers ago for two months, etc... So I'm not afraid of drastic change.

I'm thinking of going black, I don't know why it appeals to me lately, but I was wondering if you think it would look good or not?

In all honestly, Kelly, I think that black would look a little harsh on you. You really do look beautiful as a redhead, in my opinion. However, if you'd like a change for the darker, maybe you could try something more along the lines of my current hair color? About 6 inches of my roots are my own, but I did have to dye the rest of it to match, and I'm fairly certain it's the deepest shade of Wella dye before black, so it gives the same effect but with a more natural look to it. Just some food for thought =)

Thanks Hannah, I appreciate that, I'm a little worried about looking washed out since this is tan for me, with my normally pale color I worry I'll look odd.  lol.

I totally understand, I'm not the most tan person myself. I think that actual black would wash you out a lot more than a deep brown. Honestly I'd like to see you a brown with a reddish tinge, like a really deep auburn that only looks red in the light. But, of course, it's your hair and whatever you feel comfortable with =)

Hi Kelly, while I am partial to black hair..ha-ha, I think maybe a dark rich mahogany brown would look good on you. it would give you the darkness, but keeping some of the red tones in their (which loom fabulous on you). You have dark eyes so I think you could pull off black, but I think a little warmth would keep it from looking g so harsh. I'll find a picture of the color I'm talking  about.

You'll look great with any color you choose! you seem to be able to pull of several different colors...remember its only hair..ha-ha. if you are digging black try it!
I thought I'd try it one day and I absolutely love it on myself. I went through a hair journey last year thinking I wanted blonde hair again and once I got it blonde (long process) I put it right back black...ha ha. some of my family members aren't crazy about it...but I love it and that's all that matters!!

I feel black may be too harsh-I am pale like you. Have you considered a tortoise brown color with some warm red highlights?
