Has anyone ever been on a prescribed acne medication?

I'm on cefadroxil and tretinoin because recently (past 9 months) I've had BAD acne due to another medication I'm taking. I've only started the cefadroxil about a month ago and it's supposed to help clear up my skin drastically. After a month I really haven't seen an improvement and I don't go back to the doctor for another month and a half. I was wondering if anyone has ever been on an antibiotic for their acne, regardless of which one, and how long it took to help your skin? I don't know if I'm being impatient or wasting my time using something that isn't working. I used to have such relatively clear skin and I hate seeing myself like this so it really bothers me.

I'm on a medication too mines not really helping either but I'm going back soon. sometimes though with any type of medication it takes some time for it to work so give it sometime hopefully it will help soon otherwise when you go back you can get something new.

I had very bad acne on my back, face, and arms...I'hv been once on antibiotic.. I saw bad reactions like my skin was extremely dry.. but my doctor said that it will happen.. coz oil is sucked from my skin.. That was ok for me.. but then I noticed little hairs on my cheeks and nose..then I stopped taking it.. but yes my acne was gone in 2 weeks.

It's a retin-A gel that's supposed to help dry up the skin and bacteria that's causing the breakouts.

Taking oral antibiotics long term is bad for your body. They kill our good and bad bacteria which prevent fungal overgrowth and assist digestion. Supplementing probiotics while on them and after is important. :)

I've tried e v e are y t h I n g behind the counter stuff nothing clears up my skin better than what my dermatologist recommended me trying. She prescribed me "aczone" it's a topical gel and I have combination skin but this usually works with all skin types. I'm obsessed I've even switched to something called "finacea" to kind of switch it up and nothing works keeping my skin under control than the aczone.

I've had acne since I was 12 and it really took a toll on my self esteem. I went to a bunch of doctors who prescribed me different medicines and benyzl peroxide and honestly none of them worked for me. A dermatologist then gave me spironolactone and I can honestly say, it saved my life. My face is much clearer now and I do get the occasional break outs and for that I just use home remedies. When you are trying home remedies thoigh, you you need to be careful and not lose hope because not all of them will work for you. After a lot of trial and error, I found my ones. 1) take a lemon and cut it in half then rub it on your face, leave it for around and hour or two and then wash it of 2) this one my dad taught me and it is AMAAAZING, you get a bit of aloe Vera gel and sesame oil, mix them two together and put that on your face instead of moisturiser.

I got epiduo it worked amazing & it worked fast! Literally in two weeks my acne was going away I was surprised because my face use to break out horrible especially because of my oily skin as well. The downside I had with it was that it dried out my face like crazy which made me stop wanting to use it but maybe it's because I never use to moisturize my face as much but I was younger at the time. It did wonders for me but also acne treatments are all depending on the skin type talk to your dermatologist & let them know it's not a strong enough medication for you. To give you more options for your skin :) in
