What differences do you make for tv make up? Or is it the same? My dream job has came up but I have no experience in it...

Congrats Luke that is so awesome!! My daughter has a tv client and HD makeup is going to be your bestfriend. But it's more about technique in application and using the right tools to have a flawless finish. It needs to look like skin just minus the enlarged pores and pesky unwanted visitor. My daughter relies on Smashbox primers because they don't leave behind a white cast. And as far as foundation...full coverage is a must and HD. She likes using Cinema Secrets because it last all day and Graftobian has a great line up as well. If you have MAC studio foundation (the liquid version is HD safe) and Make Up For Ever HD foundation then you're ok. She heavily relies on sponges to blend the product out and her fave Shisedo foundation brush.

Concealers...she is in class right now and I can't ask her this question but from what I do know the right concealer needs to fit a particular area. Under eye concealer needs to be creamy and to cover up pesky visitors need a matte formula and she uses Dermablend or a concealer she created herself. Scaring and pigmentation also needs to be taken care of as well but I can't remember what she uses for that.

She relies heavily on contouring so the skin has dimension and makes it look natural. You want to cancel out the flat face look. Do not use a bronzer to achieve this because it's looks absolutely horrible on tv. Heavy blushes that super vibrant are off limits because they don't translate right on screen...unless your client is going for the clown look. Use natural blush color that is without sparkle/shimmer. Highlighting product needs to be matte because if it contains sparkle/shimmer it translates as a shiny mess in HD film. Same goes for eye color...matte/semi matte eyeshadows are your best friend. If the client insists on a lil bit on the eyes just blend it with a smidge of matte eyeshadow but don't place it on the brow bone.

HD powder must not contain talc...that's what causes the dreaded flashback. I feel like I forgot something that is also important. Hopefully Alma or Jackie will see this and respond as well. Again congrats on snagging your great opportunity.

Yay Jackie! The queen has spoken. ;) You're welcome Luke. I just learn from watching my daughter when she's working on her clients and just pass on the deets to help folks who ask such questions like this. Definitely screen shot Jackie's advice and memorize it because it will help you big time.
