I never had a facial done before. What should I expect? I want the focus on removing blackheads. Do standard facials do that?

Facials are great and really relaxing. The removal of the blackheads goes along with steaming portion of the facial.

There is usually a portion of the facial devoted to extraction, and yes, they will also steam your complexion. I think it's a great time to follow up with a light peel tailored to meet your needs.
It should be relaxing and soothing...some questions exchanged and perhaps suggestions. Your skin will feel clean and brighter...soft. I have heard extractions can be of some discomfort, but I exfoliate routinely and don't have oily skin and so I can't attest to anything other than one or two light extractions, which were very chill. I'd go in comfy clothes with no make-up and my hair up and off my face. Every spa has their own facial packages, but at my local stop, extraction is included. You'll feel so much better after!

Yay!! Congrats on getting your first facial. Your skin will love you for it. I don't know the procedures set in place where you're going but where I go to get mine (Bluemercury) my gal graphs my trouble areas so the next time I go back she addresses different areas of concern (especially when it comes to extractions). I try to go once every six weeks to keep the blackheads and other nastiness at bay. The extraction portion can be a bit uncomfortable but after while you adjust to the pressure. I can't remember the name of the stuff that is also used along side extraction but it definitely helps ease the gunk out of the pores and a reason I refrain from suggesting that beauties do extractions at home. First time going...go makeup free and don't make the mistake that I commonly make every single time (wearing mascara unless raccoon eyes is what you want) and wearing loose fitting clothes that are easy to take off and put on. At my spa I'm directed to take my top/bra off as she does include a light shoulder massage. And I'm covered by a sheet and a very cozy warm blanket. So don;t be surprised if you become a little sleepy during the process. Let us know what your experience is like.

Thank you all! I'll be going straight from the office so I will definitely wear a change of clothes and bring some makeup remover/skip mascara for tomorrow. I truly appreciate your help. I'm so excited!
