I have naturally wavy hair, but every time I curl it or even do heartless curls, it gets "too curly" I don't know how to explain it. It's not the cute super curly hair, it just makes me look like I've had a bad hair day. How can I fix this? I try putting in products to weigh it down, but then my hair just becomes a big sticky mess. I want more of an effortless wave look. Take in mind, my hair is also dry so I don't want to put sea salt spray in because it dries my hair up like crazy.

Maybe when you curl it or do heatless curls, you can do it for a shorter amount of time. Maybe holding it on the curling iron/wand whichever you use, for a few seconds less. Try subtracting more and more each time to see how long to hold it. With heatless curls, you could do the same thing. Take off the amount of time you use and find the length of time that's right for you.

In addition to Jaelynn's advice, it might be the direction you're curling that isn't working for you. Try curling a different direction, or in multiple directions.

@Jaelynn J. That's actually a pretty good idea! I know I do this tip to a certain extent, but it still came out too curly, but I'll try cutting down the amount of time (: Thank you!
@Kailey L. I usuually curl in multiple directions, but I'll try being more careful with which direction I curl and find out what suits my face better (: Thank you!!

Also, if it comes out too curled blow dry your hair downwards after you're done curling it. This always fixes this problem for me.

You could also gently brush your hair after curling with your fingertips or a wide tooth comb

@Maddie M. I have tried that multiple times and it just makes my hair frizzy! Thanks though ☺️

I always hairspray my hairbrush and brush the curls once they cool down so they're less frizzy and more voluminous and less defined

What size barrel are you using? Try using a bigger barrel for a looser curl.

I use a 1" -.5" That would make sense though! Why didn't I think of that? Thank you (: and thank you Natalie! I'll try that (:
