So I've had my tragus piercing for nearly 6 months so soon I'm going to change it
I was wondering if I needed to put an earring specifically for tragus piercings in or if I can put a regular earlobe stud in it??

For the tragus any stud or hoop will work. Make sure you're turning the jewelry regularly every day. That will help with taking it out it will be much easier and less painful.

Personally I wouldn't put a Normal stud earring in my tragus piercing, I'd go to my piercing shop and check out their options.

Alright
I might just end up doing that
Thanks Shaye

I don't know why but putting a normal stud in just doesn't sound right to me, I haven't changed my tragus since I got it like 3 years ago but I still look at jewellery for them haha. :)

Yeah you aren't going to want a normal stud because the back is sharp. You need to go to your piercer or online and get professional piercing jewelry. If it is a stud you want, they have them in all different designs/jewels but they have a flat back so when it sits in your ears it doesn't hurt or bother you. Please do not use regular jewelry or try to change the piercing yourself! It can be hard and you can do it wrong, injuring your piercing or creating an infection. Also, please do not turn your piercing (as directed by any professional piercer). At 6 months your tragus might still be on the last bit of healing depending on the thickness of your cartilage, and turning jewelry can cause germs and build up to come in contact with any open area. Keeping it clean like normal to avoid any inflammation is the best way to make sure changing your piecing goes smoothly, but like I said its best if you go to your piercer, because they can take out your original jewelry without any fuss. Hope it all goes well and hope you enjoy your new jewelry that you get!

I have a flat back labret in right now (the one I was pierced with) and I'm just looking for a smaller stud
The one I have in right now is a huge metal ball
I'll definitely check out body candy thanks :)

If you use a regular stud then the hole is going to close really tight. I'd suggest getting something with the same gauge you got pierced with. And you don't have to go to your piercer to change your jewelry. I have a forward triple helix and I got screwed and payed 60 dollars for three tiny studs when I could of just gone to a regular store and gotten the same exact ones for 15.

I'm going to have to go to my piercer to ask what gauge I was pierced with, because I'm not sure
Thank you Karyna

I agree with madi and gabby.
Though I would go with something surgical steel and from your piercer, just because you probably aren't going to change it a bunch, and you want the best grade possible so there's no deterioration to the bar or stud to increase the chance of infection.
The difference between claires and a real piercing place is there are medical grade surgical steel. Claires doesn't have access to that. It's also completely sterile. They get cleaned by the company, and then by the piercer with a you've light and isopropyl alcohol. Claires doesn't do that either. You risk higher chances of getting infections, and I really don't think the 30$ difference is steep enough to risk your body. If you were to change it often (like once a month ) I'd say go for the cheaper ones, but know that you do get what you pay for. And you'd likely have to throw them away afterwards, because just oxygen and water can make them deteriorate. It's like the difference between a diamond earring back, and one from Claires. Obviously the diamonds going to have a sturdier, safer and more expensive but properly made post.
You also probably got pierced at an 16 gauge. Normal ear piercings are usually 18. If your piercing shop has a fb or a website, they probably have an faq about the gauges they use for popular piercings. Generally most are done at 16 though.

Wow
Thanks for all the info Alyx

My tragus was pierced with a 14g, but 16g studs fit& most of them are that size, but yea if you can you should ask your piercer :)

I got my tragus pierced three weeks ago and this morning I thought I was tightening the ball but the back of the tragus piercing fell out the pain was chronic and had to take pain killers it started swelling so I tried to put the earring back in but failed and got other people to try but they also failed, instead of the 1.6mm earring I just put in a normal earring I'm just wondering if it will close or if I'd be able to put in a smaller earring rather than a 1.6mm or will I leave it close up and re-pierce it?
