I found a DIY mineral veil how-to online, using just corn starch and baby powder. Does anyone know if cornstarch would irritate the skin, or affect acne-prone skin? Has anyone tried this before? Thanks :)

Don't put either on your face. Pressed rice powder is ok and they sell it in the diaper aisle. Talc is like aspestos very bad to breath in. Cornstarch will just dull your complexion. The point of mineral veil is that they use minerals that are good to ingest for your skin but apply topically as part of makeup. I don't know if it works in that your skin can use the minerals in that form but it won't hurt. I like the rice powder, reminds me of the old fashioned Palladium rice cake. Baby magic patty cake is very similar, use with a big pouf brush. Don't put baby powder, which is pure talc on your face or breath it in.
