I've watched so many videos and looked at so many charts on Pinterest and I'm just more confused than when I first saw the idea. So how DO I curl my hair with a straightener? I have thick hair but I really like the light and loose ringlet. Below is a picture of my straightener.

Have you tried curling it yet the way the videos showed? What sort of problems are you running into exactly? :) its sort of hard to explain on here, but I learned from watching YouTube videos too, basically you get about an inch or half an inch piece of hair (you'll find what works for your hair type with some practice) then depending on which way you want your hair curled, you slowly slide and twist the curler inward or outward. Personally I like twisting it outward, but whatever works for you :)

Here's a good video http://youtu.be/Bm3Qyp757Sw also another way of explaining the curling process is to get the piece of hair, flip it outwards, and just keep sliding down while the straighteners flipped over, like the video shows :) I find that the slower you go down the tighter the curl, so if you want softer curls/waves, slide the straightener down the hair faster.

Thanks Gabby! I've struggled with it not curling/just curling the end under.

Are you trying to start a curl from the root...or just the ends?
if you're starting from the root or mid-shaft, hold the end with your empty hand while twirling your hair around the straightener with the other hand. (I'm sorry that sounds easier than actually doing it). As you twirl your hair and it's getting shorter in the other hand, hold it in place before letting the straightener go out of your hair.
when you're done you can run your fingers through your hair to loosen the curls

If its only curling the ends of your hair, I'd suggest starting at the roots of your hair, moving the straightener slower (but not too slow, don't burn your hair! Lol :) ) and also flipping the straightener even more, so instead of just grabbing the hair and flipping the straightener over, do that then continue to flip it about halfway more if that makes sense :)
