My hairdresser went quite a bit shorter than what I wanted (she cut about a foot off instead of about 8 inches) and I don't like it much now that I looked at myself at home. Is there any way to make it appear longer until it grows to the length I wanted in the first place?

There is not a way to make your had appear longer other than extensions... your hair is at its longest when its straightened though, no curls
