Is it bad to double cleanse? I started doing it but then stopped because I was worried that it was bad for the skin.

I wash with a mild soap for sensitive skin and then wash again after with my soap that contains acne medication and it has worked wonders for my skin... I swear by it, but I'm not sure if it's actually healthy for your skin.

The only reason I double cleanse is first, oil cleansing to remove makeup and difficult waterproof eyeliner/mascara. Then I cleanse with my usual cleanser to remove the oils and additional makeup if any. Follow with toner of course and your moisturizer. Double cleansing is not bad at all, alas, I do it only if I have makeup on.

It's good to double cleanse if you wear sunscreen/makeup. I recommend using a moisturizing cleansing balm/cream for the first cleanse, before going in with a cleansing foam/gel (depending on your skin type).

I don't think it's good for acne prone skin though

I don't think its necessary and can be bad if you're using two products that don't work well together. When I wear a lot of makeup (foundation, concealer, contour, etc. instead of just my daily makeup...) I will remove my makeup and use CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and then my Clarisonic with an acne cleanser. I think as long as you are using a gentle cleanser first (like CeraVe or Cetaphil) then its okay, but I don't think its always necessary to do everyday unless you wear a lot of makeup, sunscreen, or are outside a lot...

Sara, I'm acne prone and double cleansing to remove my makeup doesn't hurt it any. Of course, I use almond oil/Thayer's toner to oil cleanse my makeup, and this type of oil doesn't clog. I do this everytime I wear makeup, though I don't wear makeup everyday. More like... Twice a week lol.

Thanks so much ladies, I think I'll only double cleanse when I wear make up, which is hardly ever lol

The facial soap I use is meant to be used on makeup free skin and not around the eyes so when I wear makeup I have to remove it first. I have started using coconut oil to remove my makeup because that seems to be very gentle to the skin and then my facial soap afterwards and I'm not experiencing any issues, in contrary my skin is a lot better compared to the days when I just used one product to cleanse.

I double cleanse only when I wear makeup. I use Sukin skin cleanser to remove the makeup and oils then Nip+Fab Products and of moisturizer :)

Thank you both. I've started using the Ultrabland (I think that's what it's called) from lush. It's made a huge difference and I've only been using it a few days. My skin is combination I think as around my nose and chin I get dry, my chin is the main area that comes out in spots and the rest of my face is fine. My skin is super smooth compared to when I wasn't using it so I thought about double Cleansing but I think I'll just stick to cleansing once :)
