I have dark brown hair and have been thinking out getting my hair done with a purple/silver ombré. I just want to know how hard it's going to be to maintain. Would a normal ombré (so just dark brown to light brown/blonde) would be easier? Thanks!

I've never had my hair dyed silver/purple so I wouldnt be able to tell you if its easy to keep up, but just getting a regular ombre would be easier for sure because all you have to do is bleach your hair& there usually isnt any other hair dying or upkeep involved :) I have heard that pastel colors are easy to keep up though since they're more of a washed out/light color rather than for example a bright red or blue.

I have a blue ombré that I've had since June and although it's faded it's still a gorgeous color, it's gone from navy to a blue/green (I can show you a comparison if you'd like) but I didn't find it hard to maintain at all, I just cut down on how often I washed my hair to keep the color in as long as possible and I think 5 months is a pretty long time, lol.

I don't know for sure but my hairdresser said gray was one Of the hardest colors o maintain so I feel as though silver would be kind of the same.

It is definitely the worst colour to maintain in my opinion, when I had it I was touching it up every second day however I did wash my hair frequently back then, I don't now so maybe if you washed your hair every 3/4 days you might have it last a few days longer however it does fade very fast and roots come through super noticeable. If you don't have the time or money for the upkeep I wouldn't suggest it.

A normal ombre that has no purplr/silver will definitely be easier to maintain. Lilac/silver is one of the hardest colors to keep in the hair, since often times it's very light and so not much pigment is used, and what pigment is there first tones the hair, making it hard to get a consistent color base throughout a few applications. Dark purple is easier, it fades quicker than most colors but since it's not pastel it uses more pigment making it last longer.

Silver hair is very hard to get to in general. You need to bleach the hair until there is zero natural pigment left, and then use a combination of blue, purple and sometimes green to get the desired "grey/silver" color. You will almost never get a true silver, it will be blue, purple or green based and in certain lights will just look like the base color. Maintaining and upkeeping this is very hard, you will get varied colors and shades, and will need to do it frequently. Most people with light purple or silver hair dye it every 2 weeks with minimal amount of shampoos in between. I've been dying my cousins ends a light purple, she's an ash platinum blonde with lilac tips, and I do it once a week to 10 daya for her with her washing 3 times a week.
