My hair tends to snap and break. Mostly when it is wet. To the point where my hair is now getting shorter without even cutting it. Any tips?

Yes...stop! lol Hair is so fragile when it is wet. You never want to tug or stretch and snap it..wet or dry.
When you wash and condition it, use sulfate free products intended for your hair type and be gentle...using little shampoo and focusing the bulk of your conditioner near and in the ends. Your scalp produces oils that protect hair and so hair furthest away from the scalp are going to crave moisture. Pat your hair rather than be rough with a towel, using your towel to blot your hair as they do in salons.
I'd pick up a Wet Brush for about $8 at Sally or most chainstores/drugstores. It's bristles are designed to not snag and it is fabulous on both wet and dry hair. Seriously...the bomb.
I'd incorporate a few products in my routine, if you aren't already.
Redken anti-snap - smells great, reduces breakage
It's a 10 with Keratin - leave in conditioner that detangles
Pureology Hydrate Shine Max - tames frizz, leaves a lovely shine using very little product while sealing in moisture
Organic, Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil - Apply once a week and put a shower cap on for a few hours or sleep in it. Heating it removes beneficial aspects so just warm it between your fingers or in your palm and apply to your hair, wet or dry.
Lastly, I'd lay off the heat as much as possible..using a quality heat protectant when styles call for heat.
Be sure to deep condition it as needed and wash it less often by utilizing dry shampoo. Hope that helps!

My hair is like that and it's thin use protein spray and really thickens it and makes it way stronger but takes time and use hair masks
