I know your pain chick! I'm 5ft5 and I wouldn't say I'm skinny (b/w/h 39"/29"/37") but I'm a gymnast so I have large leg muscles, which makes me feel really self conscious. I have large hips and a large bust too (38DD).
I tend to suit a tighter and patterned or coloured top (if I wear any pattern) and block coloured bottoms as they draw the attention away from my hips. I love wearing skater dresses as they're tighter on top and flow out and bodycon dresses that are patterned on top and black on the bottom as they draw attention away.
I'm a UK 10/12 in clothes (US 8/10, EU 38/40, AU 10/12).
What I think you should do is buy a couple of bodycon dresses, tighter skirts, tighter tops and try them on in your room, work out outfits that would go with them. Wear them around the house and soon you'll feel more confident as you get used to them. Even if it's just a pair of skinny jeans or a tighter-than-usual jumper :)
