Okay guys, I've been trying to make my hair grow. I've been doing all the right things (washing every other day, doing hair masks, changing my diet, takinv supplements, ect) and I am curious to know if it is true that genetics play a role in hair length. I cut my hair into a Bob a year and a half ago, and have been growing it out for 8 months. it's grown about 2 inches since I've started taking serious care for it. the longest it's ever been is down to my waist, but that was about 8 years ago. is it possible to break that barrier? I really want it to be at least past my shoulders.

I'm having the same problem, but mine only started growing super slow once I cut it really short.

It's genetics. You're hair will get there, it's just taking time. It took me about two years to grow my hair out from a pixie to my shoulders and I wasn't taking the best care if my hair. So if you're taking care of it you won't have to worry about things like severe splint ends stunting your growth.

I'm guessing you've tried Biotin?

@Ana I finished a bottle of it (took it every other day) and now I'm taking prenatal vitamins. I did a lot of research and ask my doc before I started using it to make sure it was safe.

If you're taking good care of your body and hair then it really is up to genetics at this point. Just keep doing what you're doing... Hair takes time to grow! Have you taken photos every month of your progress? I did that when I was trying to grow mine out and even though I felt like it barely even moved it made me realize how much my hair was growing!

The picture on the left is from today and the picture on the right is from 8 weeks ago. I'm not sure if the growth is fast or average.
