What type of bag should I bring for going into the New York City. I'm going on Tuesday for a class trip. All I need to bring is a sandwich for lunch a wallet and water bottle and a few small necessities.

I would just bring a smaller cross body bag but big enough to hold your things. That way it's a lot harder for someone to steal from your bag if it's connected to you. It also leaves your hands free and you don't have to worry about it falling off either.

I agree with Emma. The sidewalks are insanely busy with lots of bumping..making it more difficult to avoid pickpockets. I love backpack purses, but even here in Chicago when I head into crowded areas or downtown, I use a cross front. I also stash cash on a second location rather than just one...that's not in my purse.

Yeah what Emma said, I also think one that shuts securely so with a zip or clasp, being on the go it'll keep everything inside it :)

(and I.D./credit cards) I use a hidden wallet, like they sell at Military Surplus stores.
