Need a handbag for university? What do you recommend?

Hey girls :) I'm still looking for a handbag for university, and am not sure which one to choose... I was considering buying a high end one, but am not sure whether it would last due to the big books I need.
My style is kinda preppy/classy, but nothing to high maintenance if that helps

Are there any specific bags or brands I should look into?

I don't recommend going high end for a handbag if you will be using it for school. I've been using handbags for school for years and they always wear down by the end of the semester or year. Look for a tote style bag with thick straps. I've had bags break because the straps were too thin. Since you'll eventually have to replace the bag (with my experience) look for a good bag but don't overspend :) ill try and find a pic similar to what I had.

I'd go for a backpack personally. I used to use a handbag when I was at uni (I wouldn't have said I carried lots of books) and struggled.

Hershel do really lovely backpacks which I would highly recommend!

I wouldn't go for a high end bag! From experience I've gone through 2 bags at uni over a year and a half (maybe I'm rough on my bags?) the strap and base of the bag will always wear, especially if you're going to be carrying around textbooks, laptop, water bottle, Etc...
I personally went around town and found cheaper bags because of this reason, because I couldn't justify spending the extra money on something that was going to wear more quickly.

I use a Vera Bradley bag for my books. It's the larger purse like bag NOT the backpack. I'm a junior and besides a little bit of dirt on the outside, it still looks and functions like the day I bought it. I've been using the bag for about 3 years and I love it. Very sturdy and fits a lot. I deff don't recommend their backpack though, not very durable for heavier text books. :)
