I'd wear a one piece! You can often find some with detailing such as cut outs or ruching. Some even have a bit more of the skirt style bottom if you have insecurities there. You could also wear a tankini. It would allow you to have a bit more of a mix and match freedom.

There are many different options! Gurl I know how you feel about the bikini thing. I just bought my first last month, and anytime there has been something water related I have put on my one piece. I haven't even worn my bikini yet. So if your not quite ready to make that step, there are along of cute tankinis out there! Here's one (I know you said you didn't want to wear shorts but these are built in)
