How to style big button up shirts?

Heyy everyone!
Recently I've been obsessed with my dad's big button up shirts. They're so comfortable and warm. Especially now since its already getting colder where I live. They come down to mid thigh maybe a bit shorter. Thing is I have no idea what do style them with. I tried googling images but nothing really showed up. If anyone has any suggestions please comment :) thank you so much

I got a black plaid dress just like that from Forever 21 and it has a belt to cinch in the waist so that I have some shape so I suggest belting your waist and I think heeled booties would look super cute (:

I usually tuck button ups into jeans, or sometimes into skirts, preferably with tights and heeled booties 😄
