I've heard that if you put olive oil in your hair, hold your head upside down, sleep with it in your hair, then wash in the morning, it's supposed to make your hair grow drastically if you do this every night for a week... Does this actually work?

I use an olive oil treatment once a week to keep my hair healthy and I do leave it in all night I wouldn't do it every day because then you'd be having to shampoo and condisher it everyday and that bring you right back to ware you started and the race all the goods olive oil is doing I feel like it would just be counterproductive.

Hair growth is determined largely by genetics and health. Healthy hair won't see the sort of breakage frayed ends and overly processed hair has...which is why it is associated with longer hair. Many cut hair to remove damage. So while oil can soften hair and deep conditioning is a fantastic way to be sure your hair is healthy, it will not speed your hair's growth. That said, many members use olive oil to maintain soft locks and I'm certainly in favor of cold pressed coconut oil for my own hair...so view it as an investment in hair health si that length can perhaps be more attainable and sustainable. :)

Jessica, what do you mean by 'hold your head upside down,'

Like lay down on your bed and hang your head off the edge of the bed upside down. And thanks so much Rozberry! :)

Horrible picture but I just wanted to show you the easiest way to keep olive oil this is just a cheap hand cream bottle I cleaned out and I just put half olive oil and have caster oil just gently rub it in and add extra to the bottom hair in a messy bun sleep wash done twice a week this works really well for me so I say give it a shot :-)

I love Olive oil, and I can say its not for everybody. I love it for the shine, and curls it gives when I braid it up. What you can do is a mix such as the one above, or olive oil and coconut oil mix together. or separate. I do both. and I love it. I use different types of oils onto my hair. And I can say protective styles AND moisture is good for me. I'm not too sure for your hair type. But you can look it up.
