Hey guys. So I pierced my septum in november 2014. It healed nicely, no infections or so. Buttttt, yesterday I ruined my ring, and so today I had to ho change it. Since the ring was broken, I took it out to see what I looked like without it, but I put it back in. Today, I chose to go with a horseshoe piercing. When I put my jewlery back in yesterday, it did not hurt at all, whilst today, when the piercer did it, it hurt a bit, and then it became very sore after, and it hurts just touching the tip of my nose. Anyways, the lady I went to is very professional but she chose the jewlery quite fast and it all happened within 3 min, so is it possible that she chose a piercing a little bit too big, and that's the reason its hurting? Or do you think I may have got an infection from not steralizing the jewlery before putting it back in?

I think it could just be more from you fiddling with it. If this is the first time changing around the jewellery then it is normal to be somewhat tender, all mine have done the same, my nose actually made my eyes water when I first removed it. Just give it a good clean with salt and water mixture and you should be fine 😊

I think it's just the process of putting new jewelry in because I've had my nose pierced for over a year and my nose sometimes gets sore from changing the ring too much. I would dip a qtip in ice water then hold it to your nose to help with swelling or soreness

I have my septum, for me changing mine didn't hurt but that's because I already chose to have a horse shoe bar in when I got mine done. It is usual though for piercings to be a little tender when they're changed for the first time, I'd suggest giving it a good clean with a saline solution to ensure its clean and then leave it to see whether it still hurts in a week. :)
