Vinegar on skin?

Is white vinegar on your skin safe?
Long story short.. my bfs grandma fell down and her whole body was in pain. She asked me to boil water, vinegar, and salt then she used a wash both to wipe it over her body. There's a language barrier between us but she said its good to do when your sick/in pain. There was waaaay more water than vinegar but is it even safe?

When I get a pimple I put apple cider vinegar on it and it dried it up, works great.

Not sure about white vinegar, but I use Apple Cider Vinegar (slightly diluted) as my night time toner. Works great and it's very good for the skin! Great for pimples and other issues as it has antiseptic qualities. I imagine the same would go for white vinegar.

My grandfather did the same exact mix for me after every cross country race in high school. He soaked cotton gauze and applied it in strips on my ankles,shins and kneecaps. It didn't cause me any grief and my muscles didn't feel as tight the next morning. Much better than using Tiger Balm.
