Do you ladies have any Halloween makeup ideas and inspiration? Me and my friend are going together - but we don't have to have 'paired' costumes. Thanks for the ideas! Xx

I'm going with my friend as an angel and devil! We're both going to have cat eyes, I'm going to have red lips and she's going to have sparkly white or super nude lips

For just makeup, I love the orange and black theme- I would use black lipstick and orangey red and black shadows

I'm going to be a cat, and dress in all black and do this makeup, and I'm also going with a big group of friends. Not me or my photo but I love this makeup!

I've always loved the Dia de los Muertos makeup! You can use any colors you want and make it as plain or as complicated as you like!

Please please please do not "dress up as" a figure from day of the dead. the day of the dead is a VERY sacred and important cultural practice to the latina/Latino people. by using something like that as a costume, you are appropriating their culture and reducing their beliefs into a Halloween costume. it's very disrespectful and I really would suggest finding another, more appropriate makeup look.

I'm 500% Latina and I don't find the costumes to be at all offensive, personally. I find them to be very beautiful if done right and I love the admiration it shows when people do it correctly. I really love that deer makeup!! so cute! I kind of want to do that for Halloween this year! Thanks for the ideas ladies.

I think half skull half beauty makeup is really fun to do! I did it lastyear, unfortunately no picture as it was in my old phone!

I don't find the costumes offensive at all and even though I am not Latina I do know quite a bit about the culture. They're not bashing on it or anything like towards that.. I think the deer would look super cute!!

I'm Latina too and I don't find it offensive
I agree with RT
I like the deer idea though
I was one last year and it's such a cute idea

I would do a "cut" crease that literally looks like a cut, or a mermaid :)

I went as Wednesday Addams last year, wore a black jersey skater dress with short sleeves, a short sleeved white shirt which I buttoned right up, black tights and black shoes. I used a paler foundation, light mascara and plaited my hair on either side! I loved it and I didn't see anybody else dressed up as her!

Kat R. - I completely understand, acknowledge, and appreciate your sentiment. Of course, I meant no disrespect for the Latin culture by suggesting Dia de los Muertos-inspired makeup. For me, it's about intent - costumes that perpetuate negative stereotypes are highly offensive (such as a guy in a sarape, oversized moustache, and a sombrero!). Others pick up on a beautiful and/or interesting/historical look with the intent to honor and celebrate it. But, you never know what may offend. Thank you for reminding us all to think carefully about the looks/costumes we choose!

^ That is the perfect example of how to apologise on here.

Hannah k. I totally agree with you a lot of times people get offended when someone doesn't agree with them and start a fight.

Kat H, I REALLY appreciate your response and apologize for not seeing it sooner! I completely agree with your statement about some costumes perpetuating stereotypes, while others being simply driven by admiration. Of course admiration of a culture is a wonderful experience! I stand by my statement that cultural costumes shouldn't be a thing at all, but your comment would make any culture proud! :) Thank you!
