Okay guys, I just went deep fuschia with my hair color and so I do not want to wash it often. What is your favorite sulfate free shampoo and why? What's the best dry Shampoo and how long does it keep your hair looking fresh?

I use the VO5 refresh me quick dry shampoo and it is really nice and keeps the hair fresh for long hours.

Try the herbal essence silicone free line. I have very thick oily hair, and only wash it about twice a week, and this actually cleans my hair, even though my hair is very difficult to get clean. And I always get compliments on the smell. I don't use dry shampoo, but the ones in the past have let me go a whole school day before looking greasy again, but I don't have any recommendations for it. :)

I'm a WEN girl. Its the only sulfate free cleanser that didnt dry out my hair. I use the most moisterizing formula because of my dry, thick, coarse, highlighted hair.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies :)

Marleen, is it safe for colored hair? I use a semi permanent every 3-4 weeks or so.

I use the body shops banana shampoo or the organix coconut milk. The live clean line is also good, and the Loreal ever -lines are good.

I wouldn't use wen with direct dyes, I did and it dried out my hair and faded the color super quick. But direct dyes react differently person to person.

Dry shampoo I like Treasemes volumizing dry shampoo. Sulfate free I love Shea moistures line... maybe try their hair strengthening shampoo since you colored your hair.

Wen is marketed as extremely safe for colored hair. I highlight my hair.

Marleen - it's marketed for color safe but unfortunately that doesn't include direct dyes, since they react different than depositing dyes.

I don't know the difference between direct dyes or other dyes. Most shampoo companies don't distinguish "color-safe for different kinds of color you have I get my hair colored at Aveda, where they use less damaging dyes then the usual dyes and my color never fades. That's just my experience.

Direct dyes only coat the hair shaft, depositing dyes go inside the hair. So color safe shampoos are generally worse for direct dyes, because it's "safe" by only getting the outer coating of the hair, to prevent fading the color in the hair shaft, but for the color that's just coating it, it isn't going to do anything but fade it quicker as that's where it's targeted for. I hope that makes sense

Matrix is my favorite dry shampoo this past year.

Rozberry - where do you purchase matrix? I have never seen it around here but I see you recommending it a lot.
I currently use the Marc Anthony one and it's great, but it's hard to find in my area, the store that sells it really sucks at keeping it stocked lol.

Rozberry, if you could compare the Matrix dry shampoo to others you have tried, which past one would be similar to Matrix dry shampoo?

I hope that make sense. I have been loving Drybar Detox dry shampoo but the only downside is that is has a strong fragrance that can be overpowering when spraying. Other than that, it's the best dry shampoo I have tried. I have been looking at that Matrix one though.

Alyx, my close friend/stylist takes me to Cosmoprof and I get it there, but I just checked the Matrix website and it says "discontinued"!! I see her this week so I'll have to find a plan B. She's tried a ton of them. arghh..I'm on my last bottle..lol I'll let you know what she's been using and wants me to use.

Alura, I've never had anything come close to Matrix, but I'll update this thread with a recommendation in a few days because it will be the first thing I ask her about, purchase, and try.

Oh..and I get the fragrance thing. I bought some Aveda air spray while she was on tour and it was the worst smelling product I ever sprayed or used...and stayed in my hair until my next wash. I only wash once a week so that was insanity for a product to linger for days to such a seriously heavy extent...and a bad scent at that.

Makes sense! I don't think we have cosmoprof here but I will be asking my stylist/close friend if she can take me to get a few "professionals only" pravana products since shipping to Canada is stupid expensive, next time I see her so I'll add that to the list lol.

The fragrance thing is one of the main reasons I love the Marc Anthony one. It doesn't smell like anything in particular and it's not strong at all. I could spray it for 30 seconds straight in an enclosed space and would've be bombarded with scent like some other ones (like batisse lol). It also doesn't leave that like sticky almost chalky residue feeling if that makes sense. I wish my store had it in stock all the time, I have to buy 2-3 at a time if I can lol.

Sounds amazing. I'm going to look into it! I really do trust my friend as skill is mind blowing and she knows my needs so well. I'll ask her, so thank you.
Pravana shampoos are my favorite as is the Nevo Leave in. My second favorite is Pureology. I am interested in getting a whiff firsthand..lol I can get over an initial string odor, but lingering is a deal breaker unless it is very light and pleasant...although md doesn't exceed 24 to 48 hours. Thanks!

Thanks Rozberry, I will have to give the Matrix one a shot since the Drybar one is almost out.

Do you have the Matrix clean & full or the clean & recharge?
