It sounds like it will just make your face look really cakey. One time I used my foundation as a concealer after I had already powdered and it looked awful and cakey.

I've actually done it and as long as it is loose powder and a good foundation it looks amazing. Gossmakeupartist on YouTube had a tutorial for it.

I recently had the chance to be backstage at a theatre performance, and that's what a lot of the girls did. But it didn't look very nice up close, it was more for longevity and it really did hold up throughout the entire 3 hours, even under the incredibly bright hot lighting that could probably blind you lol. But even though they used different foundations, they all ended up with a velvety matte finish like Jacqueline mentioned.

The only way of finding out is trying it out

Soo, will talcum powder work? Or is itjust any type of powder? Because I do this method and nothing hasbeen going wrong for me. My skin doesn't breakout then.

When I used the Bare Mineral's liquid foundation, I did this, just because it was so "wet" looking. Even with applying powder before and after it was still pretty dewy. Like the girls above have said, it all depends on what you're looking for and what the occasion is. I've never felt the need to use this technique except for this particular foundation. But it's a live and learn type of situation. Go ahead, try it out, and create your own opinion on it! Personally I just used, I think, a mixture of the Mineral Veil, and ELF's HD powder, so any loose powder would work, but I would recommend a translucent one! :)
