Why do people hate MAC?

I have a love/hate relationship with the line. A few years ago I had a horrible experience with an artist at one stand alone location but revisited the brand after meeting teams at two different locations who have been quite helpful and honest with me. I think some of the anti-MAC is based off the fact that some folks are hardcore about the brand. That is all they will buy and nothing else. And there is another camp that is the opposite. Personally, I don't judge anyone who is exclusive to one brand even though I believe in variety is the spice of life. Also, their quality has changed drastically over the years. I remember buying when they first came to the U.S. and the products were highly pigmented and the collections weren't once a month events. Now before I bring anything home I research it all and swatch like crazy.

I don't like that MAC here in Hong Kong doesn't give out samples. They don't have a special priviledge for members even though you spend $$$$$$ on their products...

Raising their prices while treating their product like crap. As if their stuff isn't as good as it used to be. They care more about pumping out a bunch of collections now just to earn more money yet you see from all the reviews that the quality isn't there. They went from 12 dollar polishes to 17 dollars now. That is absolutely absurd.

The only problems I ever had with Mac is their customer service (I haven't had a problem in a while) and their foundation. But I feel everyone thinks because it's Mac that everything has to be great. Every brand has their hit and misses. To me people hype up Two face eyeshadows and I think they're crappy. But I wouldn't go and not try out anything else from them.
