How long do you leave Henna in for?

I've got a free sample of the Caca Rouge from LUSH so I'm trying it on my hair, but how long do I leave it on for to take effect?

I use that exact one, I have medium to dark brown hair and I leave it in for 2 to 4 hours. Overnight if you want a lot of colour, and wrapped in plastic for a richer colour.

That's such a long time! I've only had it on for half an hour! can I do anything to speed up the process?
