I personally think if you want a lighter coverage to use your fingers, but if you want a more full coverage then use a foundation brush. I like using my fingers better because it gives a more natural look.

Multipurpose flat top brush by Sonia Kashuk! Such a lifesaver. I use my fingers to apply BB cream still since its basically a moisturizer and meant for a lighter wear.

I can't use my fingers because I have Oily skin and even if my hands are clean I feel like I get oily faster that way. Real Techniques buffing and ELF flat top powder are good.
