I got a boxed dye that was a little lighter than my hair color and had high lights. Instead my hair is darker and I have a random orange streak on the bottom that was supposed to be a "high light" but none of the others are remotely close to being one :( I'm very upset about it and I'm too broke to get it fixed :( any suggestions? :/

I would say, wash your hair a few times to dull the colour, and then go over it with a darker shade, and wear it up as much as you can. So sorry! :(

Box dyes never work well to make your hair lighter really :( wash it daily or even twice a day till the colour fades and evens out then dye over it to even out the colour and cover it up.

Box dyes always work for me. You might have just got a bad one. Just go get a Toner that will dull down any copper/orange tones in the streak, that happens easily.

I had bought light brown dye & when I use it, it was black dye.. Lucky it was just a rinse!

I bought dark red with a hint of purple to cover up my fading red. It ended up only dying the top of my hair and it was fire truck red. Just in time for prom too!!

Don't use box dyes. just... don't.
but since you already did, fade the colour out with a sunlight dish liquid and baking soda mix. wash your hair with it a few times and it'll help fade the dark out. but use a moisture rich conditioner because its pretty drying.
