I love 40's and 50's style so so so much but I dont know what are some good hairstyles to try. I'm not sure how to accomplish any of those looks.

The bottom line is that to REALLY successfully pull of those looks, you need a specific haircut. It's called a midi cut and it can't really be done much longer than about shoulder-length.
You have to understand that most of the curls/waves you saw on hollywood starlets and the like were the result of perms. They did NOT get up every morning and pincurl their hair. No sirree. They got a midi and a perm - they'd even perm their 5-year-olds (no, I'm not kidding). The whole time period is kind of fascinating...there was literally an uproar over bobby pins because aluminum was being rationed. The argument was that pretty girls keep up troop moral and lo and behold, pins were still being made and perms were still being done when women went without nylons and drew seams on the backs of their legs with eye liner.
Yup.
Anyway. You can fake those looks if you work hard enough at it, but if you're aiming for authenticity you have to work for it.

I love those looks, but sadly I can offer no advice on how to achieve one :/ I just wanted to say that Stephanie is right! In that time, perms and short hair were pretty much it. My grandmother got her first perm before she was 5 years old. And she's kept it up every single day of her life since then :) but she does still put a good amount of time/effort into the style daily. Good luck!
